EXPERIENCE

Health Educator / Safety Coordinator / Nurse – A Private School in Alexandria, Virginia

  • Planned, executed and set up renovation and Interior Design of medical clinic at the school
  • In charge of safety commission protocol for school regarding emergency protocol for all evacuations, shutdowns, disasters including three day survival kits and plans for six hundred and sixty seven students and eighty five personnel on twenty-five acres of land with thirteen buildings involved
  • In charge of stocking and maintaining health clinic with the school doctor’s approval. Maintained safety and preventative care to students that consisted of: One brittle diabetic, thirty four epi-pen severe allergy students, twenty-nine severe asthmatics inhalers in clinic, four students with history of seizures, two students with bleeding disorders with their emergency meds in clinic, and in charge of providing daily emergency clinic first aid to students on a daily basis, and emergency meds and kits for teachers upon any field trips and after school activities
  • Created health education curriculum. Classes for pre-kindergarten to eighth graders and all personnel mandatory TB, CPR, Emergency action, Basic first aid and AED classes. Wrote all forty-two health classes regarding health issues using multimedia via powerpoint presentations, videography, plays, puppet shows and artwork created from, Excellence Of Humanity’s past presentations
  • Wrote articles, “Nurse Kim Helpful Tips,” for student’s families, staff and board members. Main objective was to keep families up to date with illnesses/safety /preventative care and emergency care etc. in the monthly Burgundy Farm school magazine, which included education of the body, mind and spirit, overall full circle care.   • In charge of implementing the school’s first AED to be on the premise. Wrote curriculum and educated staff and parents regarding procedures to care for, activate and emergency use of the defibrillator.
